Joining the Friends
All are invited to apply for membership of the Friends and take part in our activities. You do not have to be a Londoner or have been a member of the police service. We have Friends based all over the world. Membership costs £10 per year and this money enables us to purchase selected MPS-related artifacts that come on to the open market. The Friends loan these to the MPHC. You will receive our regular newsletter and a free copy of “The Peeler”, a highly regarded journal, each year you remain a member.
Many people will find at least one relative in their family tree who worked for the Metropolitan Police (currently MPS). Since its formation in 1829 people from all over the UK have come to work for the MPS. Ultimately the Friends would like to see the establishment of a Metropolitan Police Museum to reflect the long and distinguished history of this police service.
The Friends are happy to receive applications for membership from anyone interested in the history of the Metropolitan Police and London's Criminal Justice heritage. The application process is supported by an equal opportunities policy.
